The Next Generation of
Practice Development
Build a self-sustaining, thriving practice by training a competent, Goal Driven manager while empowering yourself as a true CEO and leader.
Hi Clinic Owner
My name is Ed Petty. I've been helping practices grow since the 80s, and at this point, there's not much I haven’t seen or dealt with in business.
I appreciate you stopping by.
The Goal Driven Practice MBA certificate program is for growth-minded chiropractic business owners and their managers. It is also for larger practices. It provides in-depth management, leadership, and marketing training for entrepreneurial chiropractic practices - or any health care office.

Ed Petty, Lake Michigan,
March, 2025
I have selected the most practical subjects from experience and put them into 30 short lessons with accompanying tools for easy application in the office. These are designed for the manager and the business owner, but the emphasis is on the manager assuming most of the management duties.
This training does not cover how to bill insurance, set up retirement plans, work out lease arrangements, buy real estate, or analyze tax or legal issues. Nor does it cover patient scripting for the doctor or the front desk.
While these subjects are important, they do not make or break the success of a practice in the long run. Ultimately, the lack of professional and motivated management limits growth and profits in a growing or larger practice.
Let me explain why this is so and how this program is so effective.
PRACTICE SUCCESS DEPENDS ON JUST TWO FACTORS
Practice success depends on two factors:
-
The quality of clinical outcomes.
-
The quality of support
The road to practice success can become confusing with so many "solutions" and remedies sold by so many vendors, doctors, and consultants.
But the fact is, nothing takes the place of world-class outcomes. Dr. Clarence Gonstead said, "Our future will be our results." Results count—quality counts.
Given that your practice provides excellent outcomes, there is only one thing left that you need:
SUPPORT
As a practice grows, the administrative demands increase exponentially. This growth is deceptive because, as the doctor and owner, your focus is on patients rather than the supportive infrastructure needed to see those patients.
With every new patient comes 100 or so details that need to get done. These include the obvious, such as scheduling, billing, recalling, resubmitting, patient financial consultations, referral generation, internal marketing, and external marketing. But there are hundreds of behind-the-scenes details with staff, reports, statistics, employee manuals, job descriptions, reviews, upkeep of the office, marketing projects, and the list goes on and on.
And if your team is already busy dealing with their jobs, all these other details float up to you – and end up jamming your clinical work and leadership.
It is NOT chiropractic that slows you down – it is EVERYTHING ELSE!
IT'S THE MANAGER- ACCORDING TO PETTY, MICHEL & ASSOCIATES
We have observed that the best offices always had someone acting as a manager. They weren't fully trained or empowered, but nevertheless, they helped support their team and doctors.
Despite not being trained, offices with managers outperformed those without managers. They showed higher and more stable production. The smartest business owners and best offices always had someone who acted in the manager role.
But it wasn't just us that made this observation.
IT'S THE MANAGER- ACCORDING TO GALLUP
Gallup, Inc. is an American multinational analytics and advisory company based in Washington, D.C. Its conclusions and advice are based upon empirical evidence -- not opinion.
In their book, It's the Manager, Gallup states:
"Based on our largest global study of the future of work...the quality of managers and team leaders is the single biggest factor in your organization's long-term success."
Note that Gallup says "... the single biggest factor
That is a powerful statement!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A TRAINED MANAGER?
The short answer is that the manager keeps your desk clear so that you can focus on patient care and executive and leadership functions.
Your manager handles all the issues that go beyond essential practice functions like reception, scheduling, and billing. They capture them and do them, delegate them, or log them for future projects and procedures.
A trained manager is an additional role a proven team member takes on that requires 5-20 hours per week, depending on the size of the practice. Even though the manager's role can develop into overseeing all admin and marketing operations, it is always a servant role.
Here is the formula you need to know:
BETTER SUPPORT = MORE AND BETTER SERVICES = BETTER REVENUE
This is a simple formula: If you improve the support of your services, your services will also improve – both in quality and quantity.
Then, in turn, with more and better services, your revenue will increase.
Here is what one office has to say about the Practice Manager MBA program.

LAURA
GOAL DRIVEN PRACTICE MBA GRADUATE
"I highly recommend this course to other clinics and office managers."
"My name is Laura. I have an Associate's Degree in Health Science and am certified as a Chiropractic Technician and Chiropractic Radiology Technician. I have worked in the chiropractic profession for 10 years and have attended many state and national seminars.
"This program is the only one of its kind. It is exactly what all independently owned chiropractic offices need to get to the next level.
“This course has helped me become a more confident, helped the entire office flow to be efficient and streamlined, helped our clinic director focus on what she does best, and helped our patients receive the best care possible.
"I highly recommend this course to other clinics and office managers because it not only gives you the tools you need to change from "personality" driven to "goal driven; it gives you a platform to meet other individuals in the same position you are. My favorite part of this course was I now have several new colleagues I can collaborate with and then both of our offices benefit!"

DR. BROWN
(2 Doctor Office)
“We give the Goal Driven MBA program 5 Stars!"
Dr. Brown has been in practice for over 40 years and has run a high-volume practice.
"Ed's course helped me as the doctor/clinic director realize my true role in the office; being the developer of the office's mission, vision, values, our purpose and goals, essentially the "why" in why our office for its existence and where we are going.
"It gave me an understanding of the office manager's role, which is to put our goals into action steps. Having Ed look in from the outside, helped us to see what our roles should be and how to get there. This has resulted in a smoother running, company, less stress, more goals being met and all employees on the same page, going in the same direction.

Practice MBA
Curriculum Overview
The program lasts 11 weeks and has 3 sections.
SECTION 1. PRODUCE AND EXCHANGE (3 Weeks)
Phase 1 is a boot camp. The brutal facts of any business always come down to production and marketing. Understanding and accepting this reality is the first step to business leadership, management, and marketing. This phase takes the student from the level of employee to stakeholder who understands the urgent necessity of monthly production requirements. It also gives them the essential tools to manage a business.
SECTION 2. STRENGTHEN AND IMPROVE (4 Weeks)
Phase 2. However, the business must constantly improve and strengthen to sustain and increase production. During this phase, the student will learn tools and procedures that support the doctors and service providers. They will become familiar with enhancing individual and team performance and practice with other managers to upgrade their skills.
SECTION 3. INTEGRATE AND LEAD (3 Weeks)
Phase 3. Finally, a business needs more than management – it requires work that has meaning, an enjoyable workplace, happy team members, and a purpose to achieve. In the long-term, this keeps a business more profitable and less stressful for everyone. This section covers how to develop personal power and create a unified team of leaders to achieve the practice goals.

A NEW CONCEPT IN PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT —
FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Most practice development programs are seminar-based and directed at the doctor. This is an "outside-in" approach.
You return inspired but too busy to implement what you've learned. You may see a brief bump in your statistics, but it doesn't last. You experience the Practice Roller Coaster.
Instead, we train your manager, who works within your practice, to implement the needed changes and equip you to be a strategic leader.
IT WORKS!
It is no surprise that Petty, Michel & Associates' procedures work. If they didn't, we still wouldn't be in business after more than 30 years.
But what came as a pleasant surprise was just how effective our MBA training works.
I really didn't know what results the training would have in the offices. There is no other course like this out there, nor has there been.
The results have been quietly spectacular. I am thrilled with them.
-
In one office, the doctor mostly noted how calmer the clinic atmosphere had become. Office procedures were finally getting completed. Everyone seemed in "alignment" – and happy. He didn't really spend much time on the fact that his NPs were up 64% from the year before, or his visits up 25% and his collections up 23%.
-
In another multi-doctor office, collections were up 36%, but long-term conflicts that had become "calcified" finally started to show up – and get resolved. This has been a big win for me as I have tried for several years to get this situation addressed, but it has hampered the clinic's services and morale.
-
Another office has so many positive things happening that the doctor can't tell if it is good or bad! He keeps telling me of the miraculous success stories of his patients, his front desk is driving visits to their highest in years, his marketing is going like never before, and patients are closing left and right for treatment programs. Oh, and by the way, collections hit their best ever in years!

"Five Stars"
"Since taking the MBA Course my manager manages the details of the clinic and I use my time to do what I love most... helping clients and patients. Five Stars

Kim, Practice Manager
"It was fantastic!"
I recently completed Ed's Practice Manager course, and it was fantastic! The course provided invaluable insights that helped our office streamline and implement effective policies and procedures. Ed's book is also an excellent resource -- it's an easy read and filled with practical advice that we could apply right away.

Debora, Practice Manager
(2 doctor clinic)
"I found this course to be extremely valuable for both personal and professional growth.” “Five Stars”
"I found this course to be extremely valuable for both personal and professional growth. The material was rich and comprehensive, and although the program was fast-paced, I consistently found meaningful insights that I could apply right away. One of the key takeaways for me was the Goal Achievement Process—it was transformative for our office.
By implementing the goal-setting framework, we were able to identify areas for improvement, particularly with our front desk procedures, which significantly enhanced our communication and overall efficiency. Another area that stood out was the marketing focus. It helped us get organized and ensure that we were consistently planning and executing marketing activities every month. The leadership training was extremely beneficial, especially in clarifying roles.
…. Overall, I would highly recommend this course to any doctor or manager looking to grow and refine their leadership skills. The commitment to completing the program is well worth the effort, and the principles learned can be applied not just in business but also in personal development. If you’re looking for a course that will help you improve communication, set clear goals, and grow as a leader, this is the one to take."

Dr. Shelly Recer, Clinic Director
(2 Doctor Clinic)
"The "Goal Driven Practice MBA" … is a game-changer!"
"I, along with my office manager and an associate doctor, took the Goal Driven MBA course because I needed more instruction for my team to level up their management skills without taking up too much of my time. One of my team members, Debora, has really stepped up and is managing stats and overseeing the team. She’s taken on a stronger leadership role, and I can already see how that’s paying off.
As a result, we’re on the path to becoming more efficient, and I’m stepping back in a more strategic role while we refine our processes. I feel confident that the changes we’re making will help us grow.
I would definitely rate this program 5 stars. It was well worth the investment, and I think having multiple people in the office take the course together is a great idea.
The pricing was fair, and the flexibility of being able to go at my own pace made it all the more accessible. It’s a far more manageable experience than attending a live seminar. I’m looking forward to continued progress and highly recommend it for any business, not just chiropractic."

Maxwell Synsvoll, D.C.
“I highly recommend his management training to create a strong office team.”
I have been in private practice for 25 years. During that time I have had many coaches and trainers. I have had the great opportunity to work with Ed Petty and PMA for the past 8 years.
Our major strength as doctors comes from strong results and a solid team. Not all growth can be seen and measured. But, It can be felt.
Ed is a master at the foundational structure which is built through our words and communication within a group of motivated team members who respect growth and mission in a normal natural healthy way.
Ed Petty's teaching has helped us to define every role and goal with expectations and checklists to empower our team to have extreme ownership of their positions.
I highly recommend his management training to create a strong office team.
Thank you Ed!
THE FUTURE
WE CAN'T PREDICT THE FUTURE. The world is rapidly changing. Companies and governments are restructuring – trimming expenses and replacing workers with new AI systems. And it has just started.
Your best guarantee of future success is investing in your business, your people, and yourself. Build a moat around your practice so that it is secure and can support itself and everyone in it.
Imagine what your practice could look like if you had a competent, proactive, and goal-driven manager -- someone who could free you from daily operational bottlenecks, stabilize your practice growth, and help create a thriving, well-organized business.
For over 30 years, we've seen firsthand that practices with a trained manager consistently outperform those without. They're more productive, resilient, efficient, and less dependent on the clinic owner for every decision.
The truth is, you can't do it all alone. And you shouldn't have to. By investing in your manager's development through the Goal Driven Practice MBA, you're investing in your business's long-term health, profitability, and sustainability.
The World Is Changing. Your Management Strategy Must Too.
Spring term begins March 31. Maximum of 10 students.
