MBA for Practice Managers
and their Clinic Directors
Management, Leadership, and Marketing
Practical Assignments
Clinic Director. A key element of the assignments will be teaching the clinic director the information presented. This helps with understanding the information presented, as in the adage "To teach is to learn twice," but will also clarify agreements between the manager and the clinic director. The Clinic Director may quiz you on the material you studied.
Training partner. A few exercises might include working with your training partner in Cooperative Coaching. You can read more about Cooperative Coaching here.
Where to find assignments. Assignments for each class will be posted in the Manager's Community, MBA Training, Library.
Due date. Most assignments are due before the following class. The notable exceptions are the Capstone Project and share sessions, described below.
All assignments must be completed to receive a certificate of completion and diploma.
Share Sessions
You are required to spend some time with each other on a Share Session call. All that is needed is for you to share a successful procedure or two. Since you are all busy and engaged in the "front lines" of practice management, your firsthand information will be especially practical for your colleagues. We will provide a schedule of whom you can contact each week as an aid, but you are encouraged to contact your colleagues at any time.
Share Sessions align with the motto of the Manager's Club: "We help each other help others."
Capstone Project
The Capstone Project is the most major assignment that will entail all course elements.
It is a specific project you take on that improves some aspect of your practice. It includes a plan and several action steps. Not all the actions need to be completed by the end of the course, but progress should be made on your action steps.
The last class includes a presentation in which you explain your improvement project – the plan, action steps, and progress so far. The details are below.
You will have a separate conference call with Ed to review your Capstone Project. You can also work with your training partner on this project.
You should begin working on this early in the program.
