Growing your practice from the inside out.
Here are 4 propositions, even principles, that can help you develop your practice and business. They are based upon years of working with doctors and staff like you.
#1. PRACTICE SUCCESS DEPENDS ON JUST TWO FACTORS
The quality of clinical outcomes.
The quality of support.
RESULTS
Nothing takes the place of world-class outcomes.
Dr. Clarence Gonstead said, "Our future will be our results."
Results count—quality counts. This is what people want – results and great service.
Given that your practice provides excellent results, there is only one thing left that you need:
SUPPORT
Support can be a deceptive factor in your practice. As a practice grows, the administrative demands increase exponentially. These demands can be overlooked and even camouflaged. This is because as the doctor and owner, your focus is on patients rather than the supportive infrastructure needed to see those patients.
With every new patient comes 100 or so details that need to get done. These include the obvious, such as scheduling and billing.
But there are hundreds of behind-the-scenes details with staff, reports, statistics, employee manuals, job descriptions, reviews, upkeep of the office, recalling, re-submitting, patient financial consultations, referral generation, internal marketing, and external marketing. marketing projects, and the list goes on and on.
And if your team is already busy dealing with their jobs, all these other details float up to you – and end up jamming your clinical work and leadership.
It is NOT chiropractic that slows you down – it is EVERYTHING ELSE!
#2. BETTER SUPPORT = MORE AND BETTER SERVICES = BETTER REVENUE
This is a simple formula: If you improve the support of your services, your services will also improve – both in quality and quantity. Then, in turn, with more and better services, your revenue will increase.
This is logical, right?
Support improves, then services improve, then income improves.
#3. BETTER MANAGEMENT – PETTY, MICHEL & ASSOCIATES
We have observed that the best offices usually had someone acting as a manager. They weren't fully trained or empowered, but nevertheless, they helped support their team and doctors.
Despite not being trained, offices with managers outperformed those without managers. They showed higher and more stable production. The smarter business owners and best offices always had someone who acted in the manager role.
But it wasn't just us that made this observation.
# 4. BETTER MANAGEMENT – GALLUP
Gallup, Inc. is an American multinational analytics and advisory company based in Washington, D.C. Its conclusions and advice are based upon empirical evidence -- not opinion.
In their book, It's the Manager, Gallup states:
"Based on our largest global study of the future of work...the quality of managers and team leaders is the single biggest factor in your organization's long-term success."
Note that Gallup says “…the single biggest factor…”
That is a powerful statement!
