Don't Get Left Behind

I love American football.
But football also loves chiropractic.
Every professional team has at least one team chiropractor.*
Chiropractic works, and million-dollar players wouldn't use it if it didn't. Here's what 3 top players have to say about your profession:
Aaron Rodgers. "Performing at my best is important to me and should be to everyone. I am blessed that my dad is a chiropractor. Getting adjusted regularly – along with practicing other good health habits that my mom helped me to establish – are all part of my goal to win in life and on the field.” “Rogers is regarded as one of the greatest and most talented quarterbacks of all time.” (Wikipedia) 1
Tom Brady (7× Super Bowl Champion: 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020) "Chiropractic just makes you feel so much better. When I walk out of the clinic, I feel like I'm about three inches taller and everything's in place." 2
Joe Montana (4× Super Bowl Champion: 1981, 1984, 1988, 1989) "Chiropractic has been a big part of my game." "Chiropractic care works for me." 3
Using Football and Sports to Market Your Services
You can position your office as a resource for athletes of all ages and all types. This gives you instant and outstanding credibility.
Promote the fact that football and all athletics are improved through chiropractic care.
Set up some promotions. For example:
In Office-Workshops. For example:
"The Injury-Proof Playbook: 8 Moves That Keep Athletes in the Game" Performance Enhancement & Injury Prevention Workshop
"Weekend Warrior Survival Guide: Keep Your Heroes Healthy" 8 Essential Strategies for Parents & Spouses of Active Athletes
Talks In Businesses and Organizations. You could offer lunch-and-learn programs, screenings, 5-minute chair massages, and provide members or employees with a discount on an exam.
Athlete Recovery Sessions. "Monday Morning Quarterback Recovery" sessions specifically for "weekend warriors." Pick one day (Monday), maybe the 1st and 3rd week of the next 3 months, to promote these with special pricing for post-game soreness and "armchair athlete" back pain.
Partnerships. Partner with local high school football teams, youth leagues, and Pop Warner organizations to provide sideline care, screenings, or educational seminars on injury prevention.
How to Promote These. Use your newsletter! You can also post fliers around the office and in local businesses. And definitely during your Table Talk.
Marketing Coordinator. Have your manager take on the role of part-time Marketing Coordinator. Make sure they have at least 3-5 hours per week.
Everyone is a Marketer. Everyone is a team player, which means everyone sells health.
Marketing Planning Meeting. Schedule a short marketing planning meeting each month with the team. Have them bring their ideas. Get projects assigned. Everyone can take on a marketing activity, and the Marketing Coordinator coordinates it.
Using Football to Create Your Winning Team
The #1 action step, however, is applying the concept of a football team, or a soccer team, or any team sport, to your practice team.
A winning football team has a strategy, rules, and faces challenging situations. It requires toughness and teamwork.
And, it also has a scoreboard.
But most of all, it is a sport. And by sport, I mean it is a game.
And games can be, and should be, fun.
So I recommend looking at your practice as a team of health professionals, playing 4 quarters each month. Play to win, be tough, use teamwork, but keep it fun.
And play!

P.S. We would like to inform those who knew our former business partner, Rhys Marohn, that he passed away this past weekend. Rhys joined us in 1991 and played a significant role in the growth of Petty, Michel & Associates. He was also a founding member of Chiro-Health Management Services, Inc., where we established 28 chiropractic offices in Wisconsin. A few years ago, he relocated to California to be with his family, though we remained in close contact. Rhys was a dedicated and compassionate team member who will be greatly missed.
